Dr. Reese went over the pre- and post-op x-rays. Buzz has 2 "separations" in his pelvic area, and 1 "break". Vet seems to think that those will heal just fine on their own with rest. Buzz has a very long pin going from the top bone of his knee all the way to right beside his hip. He has stiches and staples. He also had his dew claws removed, so he has bandages on his feet as well. The reasoning behind having these removed is that they can get caught on things and ripped while playing- which would then require surgery...and that's something we do not want for him, of course! Usually the dew claws are removed 2-3 days after they're born, but the person I got him from didn't get it done. It took me an hr to get around to posting this because I've been petting and loving on him for that long since we got home. He goes back to the vet Monday for his bandages to be checked on his feet and probably Thursday for his leg/pelivs to be checked on. He will go back once per week for somewhere between 6-14 weeks, depending on how long it takes him to heal (maybe on the longer side because he has so many breaks/separations). I have a pain med and an antibiotic to give him every day and am supposed to ice his knee 3 times a day for 10-15 min at a time. I have to put baggies over his feet when he goes outside so that no moisture gets in the bandages on his feet.
